Volunteering at Acacia Adult Day Services

Whether completing social service hours, internships requirements, or seeking personal fulfillment, volunteering at Acacia Adult Day Services will be an enriching experience for volunteers and participants alike.

Under the direction of the Community Resource Coordinator, Terry White, volunteers are provided orientation and training needed to fulfill their volunteering objectives. Volunteering opportunities include:

• Program Tasks - During Operating Hours Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Assisting staff with serving meals and snacks
  • Assisting staff to carry out scheduled activities
  • Enriching the program by leading an activity (i.e. in a different language; tailored to the needs of a specific group; playing music)
  • Offering companionship to participants
  • Internships may include nursing, social work, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, fundraising, and performing assessments
    
• Administrative Tasks - During Operating Hours Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  
  • Helping with mailings (newsletters, information, etc)
  • Filing
    
• Leadership Tasks - Hours Vary (Meetings usually scheduled on weekdays after 5 p.m.)
  • Serving on the Board of Directors
  • Serving on the Site Advisory Committees
  • Serving on the Advisory Board
  • Fundraising
    
• Special events- Hours vary (May include some weekends.)
  • Participating in committees for fundraising events;
  • Clean up days, painting days, organizing program celebrations (i.e. holiday parties)

Requirements

• Program volunteers are required by the State of California Department of Health and Services to have a current Tuberculosis test;
• Good health;
• Program volunteers need to be over 16 years of age; however, program volunteer groups may include persons under the age of 16.
